Take Care of You

BAGC strives to reimagine mental and emotional well-being for female children and pre-teens by providing interventions to deter them from engaging is negative, stressful, and life-threatening experiences; risk factors that are prevalent among the girls we serve.

The TCY curriculum has been adapted from the Happiness and Well-Being for Adults Curriculum by Jonah Paquette, PsyD and Patricia Eaton, PsyD and modified accordingly for children.

The curriculum is a hands-on, activity-based program with no exams, reading assignments, or grades. Girls will explore multiple themes throughout the 10-week program. TCY employs techniques such as mindfulness, reflective stories, interactive activities, and expression to equip girls with the necessary skills and mindset to navigate life and the complexities of today’s world as female.

The research-based program teaches valuable self-care skills to ensure healthy management of emotions, improve mental well-being, and equip participants with emotional awareness and tools to be HAPPY, across all areas of life. The curriculum explores topics such as gratitude, compassion, optimism, mindfulness, self-care and more.

Children and teens across all grades have experienced increased stress, anxiety, and isolation as a result of COVID shutdowns from 2020/2021 – the lingering negative impact is profound.

BAGC’s response is TCY! Our goal is to inspire and empower girls through wellness education and create a safe space to help young girls navigate life with increased self-determination, develop and nurture their inner strength and mental resilience, and maximize their emotional wellbeing!
