Bay Area Girls Club (BAGC) believes that unwavering support coupled with access to resources and networking, paves the road to college – a benchmark for success.
Community programs often play a brief role in the lives of program participants; when they leave the program, they are sent on their way to fend for themselves. At BAGC, our goal is to work with high school students to explore their college options and ignite a passion in them to pursue continuing education.
College Bound Girls (CBG) is a highly successful college pathway support program that offers students information, guidance, and support in the areas of college research and exploration, completion of college applications, financial aid/scholarship research, completion of scholarship and financial aid forms and more. Participants are coached to explore career options and resources, and helped to develop the skills and mindset that are critical to academic and career success. The girls receive training on specific skills that are critical to academic and career success including studying, goal setting, strategic thinking, presentation skills and learning to become self-aware young adults.
While aiding the girls to stay focused on academic success, program participants also receive the social-emotional support necessary to prepare them to advocate for themselves, access resources, and build their support networks to take control of their future on their journey into adulthood.
In addition to preparing the girls to further their education, BAGC sends participants off to college with laptops and college and dorm supplies! What a joy it is to watch the girls blossom – many of our College Bound Girls participants are first generation college students!
